Why Is A Mobile Phone NOT a Levelling Device?

HARD FACT

A mobile phone provides approximate levelling information which is un-calibrated & temperature sensitive.

You're better off using your eye rather than trying to stuff around with what amounts to a poor version of a spirit level.

The basic problem of using a mobile phone is that you need a person remotely reading the phone and reporting back to the driver who is moving a vehicle with the same issues as manipulating the spirit level - with less precision.

Additionally,  a mobile phone is also not thermally calibrated meaning - when the ambient temperature changes, so does the level the phone displays...

Why Is Precision So Important?

This means the following:


Other products & phone levellers have angle errors of +/- 0.5 degrees & increase to several degrees as the temperature changes from freezing to a hot day!

This means:

Tilt Error: A +/- 0.5 degree angular error means up to a 52mm variation around a desired level for a 3m width increasing up to 260 mm if the temperature changes from cold to hot!

Pitch Error: A +/- 0.5 degree angular error means up to 157mm variation around a desired level for a 9m length increasing up to 780mm (2/3 of a meter) if the temperature changes from cold to hot! Gimmick device - not practical AT ALL!

A Mobile Phone/App Has an Error Greater than +/- 0.5 Degrees and is Not Temperature Stable! Therefore if the Temperature Changes So Does the Displayed Angle!

A Mobile Phone/App Can Give an Error Reading of 260mm to 2/3 of a Metre Across the Width & Length of a Van! Hardly a Leveller!
